Danville, CA, is a modern, sophisticated, vibrant town that retains a small-town, friendly atmosphere. It is situated along the 680 Corridor, in the heart of the San Ramon Valley. Walnut Creek is the major city to the north (about a 20-minute drive), and Pleasanton is to the south (about 20-minute drive). Danville covers approximately 18 square miles. Local nomenclature divides the town between "westside," the area that wraps around downtown and follows curvy roads to homes nestled in the the Las Trampas Ridge and "eastside," the area that rolls out towards the Diablo Range and includes the community of Blackhawk.


Danville is known for its inviting, pedestrian-friendly downtown area filled with scores of restaurants, boutiques, and civic-oriented activities. The weather is generally balmy, and residents enjoy access to all kinds of outdoor activities, as well as a weekly farmers market. People often choose to live here for the nationally ranked, award-winning schools. This community is is a bedroom community for Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and Oakland. Nearby San Ramon is increasing its appeal for businesses with a new downtown center designed by Renzo Piano and many businesses in the Bishop Ranch Center. Many tech and engineering firms are also developing business headquarters in nearby Pleasanton.

The Iron Horse Regional Trail, which follows the path of the historic railroad, is a corridor for biking and hiking, runs through Danville. The trail is 55 miles long and connects 12 cities from Livermore to Suisun Bay.


According to a 2011 article in Businessweek, Danville at the time contained the 41st most expensive zip code in America. It is ranked as one of California's top 25 wealthiest cities and is the second highest-income place in the United States with a population of at least 40,000.
